Cluster Insight is a column where we ask six questions to catch a glimpse into the daily business-lives of our cluster partners and members.

This week, we spoke with Trond Erik Gundersen to learn more about him and his work in Head Energy.

Head Energy is an independent engineering, technology and consulting company, operating within Oil & Gas, Offshore Wind and Civil Engineering. The company was recently awarded a contract for two well connections on the Brage platform by Wintershall Dea.

1. What is your role in Head Energy?

Manager of Head Energy’s subsea- and technology department.

2. Your main focus at work right now is?

Right now, it is making sure our staff is healthy and safe and that we adhere to the infection control measures that are in place during the Corona situation.

Secondly, securing that ongoing projects are delivered according to plan, follow up of tendering work and optimizing IT infrastructure and information flow for the staff members working remote.

Our staff is our most important asset, so balancing their workload and optimizing their working conditions is key to our success.

3. Biggest challenges and/or opportunities for Head Energy in the future?

As both a tech developer and a manufacturing company our biggest challenge is to complete projects for our clients while simultaneously developing new solutions and products. But this is also a great opportunity.

Working very closely with our clients and partners we get a good understanding of what would take the technology to a new level and how we can create more value for our clients.

4. Best part of being member in a cluster

The best part is the networking possibilities with genuinely open minded and forward-thinking partners and professionals. It is a great arena for sales and marketing activities as well, and for direct or indirect funding programmes. In general, we are very happy being a part of the cluster.

5. Your business motto

“It’s not a competition, but I’m winning”. No, seriously, I don’t have a business motto, or life motto for that matter. But I believe in the virtues of hard work, being humble and open minded and having faith in the people around you.

6. Which cluster member should we interview next?

PSW Group – An exciting company with some very interesting solutions and technology.

Thank you for the insight Trond Erik.
