Cluster Insight With UNITECH Offshore
Hang in there, across the finish line and then go a little further, is the business motto of Gunnar Birkeland.
Cluster insight is a column where we ask six questions to catch a glimpse into the daily business-lives of the cluster partners and members.
We kick-start this column by interviewing Gunnar Birkeland from UNITECH Offshore:
What is your role at Unitech OffshoreCEO of UNITECH Offshore, but also project manager for projects, sales and more; we must all contribute where needed.
Your main focus at work right now is?Our renewable venture with revolutionary designed dynamic cables in Norwegian aluminum for offshore wind turbines is important, demanding and very exciting.
In addition, there is an increased demand for subsea distribution systems such as umbilicals and flying leads, which is our core business. We need to tell the world about our unique termination solutions and about our factory, recently commissioned by Siemens.
Biggest challenges for Unitech Offshore in the future?UNITECH has unique solutions and capacity in umbilicals, flying leads and dynamic cables. It is demanding to develop new solutions in terms of resources and at the same time reach out to two different markets such as the Oil and Gas- and Offshore Wind markets. We are looking for new colleagues who can contribute here!
Best thing about being part of the clusterGCE Ocean Technology has contributed to our roadmap and success within renewables. The cluster administration is good at linking needs and expertise and giving members visibility. The cluster also creates new important tools such as the Catapult center.
Your business mottoHang in there, across the finish line and then go a little further.
Which cluster member should we interview next?Equinor, who has become as important in floating offshore wind as in subsea oil and gas.
Thank you for the insight Gunnar.
