Birdview is looking for financing to be able to recruit manpower that can accommodate a growing demand for their airborne ocean monitoring drone solution.

Cluster insight is a column where we ask six questions to catch a glimpse into the daily business-lives of our cluster partners and members.

This week, we spoke with Pouyan Shariffiasl to learn more about him and his work in Birdview; a startup company, offering cost effective ocean monitoring by using airborne drones with probes that can gather data. Birdview has already collaborated on projects with some of our cluster partners like IMR (Havforskningsinstituttet) and TechnipFMC.

1. What is your role in Birdview?

Founder, Project Coordinator and Pilot.

2. Your main focus at work right now is?

My main focus these days is divided between several areas. I am responsible for facilitating so the company will achieve our sub-goals related to projects, production, delivery and financing. This includes follow-up on existing projects and partners. Moreover, I am responsible for the operative surroundings along with Terje Vanvik.

3. Biggest challenge for Birdview in the future?

Our greatest challenge can be seen in the context of reaching sufficient capital to becoming established as an industrial operator. Furthermore, to acquire the right type of expertise and enough manpower to accommodate the number of inquiries for our solution which so far have exceeded our expectations.

4. Best part of being member in GCE Ocean Technology

The best part of being a member of the cluster is more than one thing, such as making visible future potential customers and project partners. Also, having the cluster as a support and an advisory tool on how to maneuver from startup to becoming an established company. In addition, invitations to different types of activities have been, and are, supporting activities for smaller companies such as Birdview.
