OG21 Seeks Your Input for Revised Strategy

The OG21 strategy will be revised this year. You are welcome to provide your input in different meetings 3-4 February or via an online form.

OG21 is Norway's oil and gas technology strategy for the 21st century. The strategy has been revised every fifth years since it was first established in 2001.

The OG21 strategy sets direction for public funded petroleum research in Norway, and it influences R&D plans and activities in the petroleum industry, in research institutes and in universities.

Give Your Input

You are welcomed to give your input on topics you find important for the oil and gas industry to address going forward in the 21-century.

You can provide input in three different ways and steps:

  1. Through an online form before 26 February 16:00 (CET)
  2. At four different online meetings the 3 and 4 February
  3. At review process scheduled August 2021

The revised strategy will be presented at the OG21-forum towards the end of this year.

See more details about the process and scope of revision: The OG21 strategy is being revised - Norwegian and English version of the OG21 web-page is available.

Petroleum Research Created Huge Values

The petroleum industry is Norway’s most important industry in terms of income to the state, employment, export of petroleum products and export of services and equipment to the global petroleum industry.

The successful development of the Norwegian petroleum industry is founded on a skilled and competent workforce and the implementation of advanced technologies.

The Norwegian continental shelf is today one of the most technologically sophisticated petroleum provinces in the world, and Norway-based suppliers have become global leaders within many offshore petroleum segments.

A report published in 2020, shows that Norwegian petroleum research gives 30 times its investment back to the government in increased value creation.

The report is written by Rystad Energy on behalf of The Research Council of Norway and evaluates the 4.8 billion NOK in petroleum funding in the period 2008-2018.
