Do you need more knowledge about Renewable Energy?

The University of Bergen is launching a brand-new, online part-time master`s course, starting in January 2026.

The course is called "Renewable Energy Resources and the Energy Systems" and gives you 10 ECTS credits.

It provides insight into how we can build future renewable energy systems that ensure sustainability, profitability, and energy justice. Participants will gain an understanding of scale, systems thinking, and the balance between environmental impact and energy supply.

Key topics include:

  • Renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower
  • Energy storage and the structure of electrical energy systems
  • Electricity pricing, economic analysis, and policy instruments
  • Perspectives on public acceptance, energy justice, and the role of public administration

The course also covers bioenergy and thermal energy, and touches on nuclear power and fossil energy sources.

Practical information:

  • Primarly online teaching, with one in-person seminar day in Bergen.
  • Admission requirements: The course is at the master’s level, targeting professionals which already holds at least a bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent) and a minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
  • As this is the first time the course is offered, it will be available at an introductory price of NOK 11,000. The regular course fee later will be appr. NOK 25,000.
