The Era of Unmanned Vessels Has Begun
Several cluster members have launched remotely operated unmanned vessels. Join our resource group to stay updated on the latest developments.
GCE Ocean Technology established a dedicated resource group within remote and autonomous operations last year.
The group meets regularly, both in person and via video calls, to share challenges and opportunities and is open to employees from our partners and members.
If you would like to join, please contact jon.hellevang@gceocean.no.
Get the Latest from the Authorities
Our next meeting will be held digitally on Monday, 24 November from 14:00-15:00 (CET), and will provide an update on the regulatory landscape and IMO regulations.
The presentation will be given by Lisbeth Toft, Senior Legal Advisor at the Norwegian Maritime Authority.
The meeting will focus on Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs), a rapidly evolving area. Several cluster companies have launched new vessel types serving various markets and regions.
Recent highlights include:
- Reach Subsea has been granted a trading permit to operate its Reach Remote 1 Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) entirely through remote operations—without a support vessel.
- Fugro was awarded the seabed mapping mission for the Mareano programme using USV.
- Deep Ocean developed the USV Challenger.
- Nordic USV has succeeded in making coastal environmental mapping more efficient.
