Host Master's Students for a 10 Week Internship
If your company is intersted in hosting internship students from Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, now is your opportunity to recruit one of the fourty students from Bergen available for assignments.
Master’s students from the programmes Innovation and Management, Leadership and Innovation / MSc in Business Administration, and Responsible Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) Bergen will complete a 10-week full-time internship during the spring semester.
Together, these courses include around 40 students, all seeking relevant placements.
Looking for Startups, corporates and clusters
Internships may take place in a start-up, an innovation project within an established company, or in a business cluste.
During the internship, students will work closely with the company/team and carry out tasks related to innovation and entrepreneurship.
The course emphasises practice-based entrepreneurial learning and innovation competence. The learning approach is student-active and action-oriented, and the internship is organised in close collaboration with the regional innovation ecosystem.
Internship period is is:
- 9 March – 29 May 2026
(10 weeks full-time; Easter week and public holidays in May are free.)
Companies interested in hosting a student must prepare a one-pager (1 page, portrait format) describing:
- The company, and
- Possible tasks for the student during the internship.
Examples of Relevant Tasks
- Market research (market segments, internationalisation, marketing and social media)
- Identifying potential pilot customers
- Investor analysis and/or budgeting
- Pitching to various stakeholders
- Business model development
- Cost–benefit analysis of products or services
- Participation in innovation strategy meetings and contributing to strategy development
- Tasks related to sustainability and reporting (especially relevant for business students)
- Prototyping and technology product testing
- Supporting applications and activities connected to public funding agencies (e.g. Innovation Norway, Enova, County Council, Research Council of Norway)

Matchmaking Day
Companies with an approved internship plan must participate physically at the Matchmaking Day on 12 February 2026 (13:00–17:00).
Students will submit a CV and video pitch one week in advance.
On Matchmaking Day, companies pitch in plenary before informal interviews and mingling.
Students are placed with companies based on the best mutual match.
Additional Information and Expectations for Host Companies
Students work 34 hours per week (Tuesday afternoons are for studies). They follow regular working hours but may join evening events upon agreement.
- Students have mandatory attendance at 2–3 seminars, usually on Tuesdays after 12:00.
- The company must assign a mentor with insight into the company’s innovation activities. HVL will host a digital session (approx. 1 hour) for mentors at the start of the internship.
- Both company and student must sign the HVL Internship Agreement. After the internship, the company must provide a testimonial (HVL template will be provided).
- Tasks must comply with all applicable regulations, including health and safety requirements.
