Launch of new incubator
The Future Ocean Incubator at Marineholmen was officially opened this week!
The blue ribbon was cut by Tor Andre Ljosland from Vestland county council, and with that, the incubator is one step closer to achieving the ambition of 30 companies in incubation annually.
A space for ideas to grow
The Future Ocean Incubator is and will be a place to realize the best ideas in the ocean industries. Here, the founders will get help to navigate in the right direction for them and their innovations.
There are already 14 startup companies signed in, but we have room for more, so get in touch if your newly hatched idea needs a place to grow.
– What we want to achieve with this initiative, is to methodically help entrepreneurs go from idea to invoice faster, said Kai Stoltz, Business Development Manager in GCE Ocean Technology.
GCE Ocean Technology is one of the partners in the incubator, along with VIS, NCE Seafood Innovation, Connect, Ocean Innovation Catapult and NOSCA.
Steal with pride
"Steal with pride", dare to fail fast and go all in, said Vidar Aarhus from Ocean Capital Bergen (Havbyen Bergen) as advice to the entrepreneurs in the crowd.
The event was concluded with the award “Vestlandets beste idé 2022” being handed out to tech startup EasyX who is also one of the startups inhabiting the Future Ocean Incubator.
They were awarded 400,000 NOK by VIS and Sparebanken Vest, as well as an additional 100,000 NOK worth of industry-specific consulting and shared-space services, courtesy of VIS.
