A survey addressing digital competence and the demand for it in the Bergen region was recently performed, disclosing a great need for «digital employees » in the region.

The survey confirms that there is a demand for over 600 employees within digitalisation, but 32% of the companies are having difficulties with finding the right competence.

The respondents claim that the highest digital competence in their businesses lies within digitalisation of the value chain, cloud computing and programming, while expertise about AR/VR, 3D printing and physical robots were at the other end of the scale. Machine learning and artificial intelligence was most sought after by the respondents while digitalisation of the value chain and know-how about Big Data came second and third on the wish list.

When asked how the region should strenghten digital compentence, some of the statements from the respondents were:

  • Strenghtening the collaboration between businesses, academia and public institutions
