Meet and learn from Statoil, TechnipFMC, Karsten Moholt, WHOI, Norwegian Tech Award Winner Disruptive Technologies and many more at our Subsea Innovation Day 19 April. An innovation challenge will be posted based on the workshop part of the event with opportunity to propose innovative solutions.

The Subsea Innovation Day will focus on Integrated Monitoring, which is combining models, sensors and Big Data/advanced data analysis and data fusion. The session will be a combination of presentations and workshop to identify the main challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

Top International Opening Key Note

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) is by many recognised as the world’s leading institute in ocean research, exploration and education. We are pleased to have James Bellingham, Director Center for Marine Robotics to give the opening key note.

Bellingham earned his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was Founder and Manager of the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Laboratory. He was also Co-founder of Bluefin Robotics in 1997. Bellingham will present the activity at WHOI with focus on Marine Robotics and share his thoughts and visions for an autonomous underwater future.

Norwegian Tech Award Winner

Disruptive Technologies are developing stamp-sized sensors with built in processing, communication and battery. The company was awarded winner of the Norwegian Tech Awards 2016, by TU, NITO and Tekna, and has ambitions to become a large actor within Internet of Things (IoT). Founder and CEO of Disruptive Technologies Erik Fossum Færevaag will present his thoughts about the future of IoT.

Færevaag comes from a background of great achievements within the semiconductor industry and has been a part of two successful hi-tech ventures (Energy Micro and Chipcon) as well as holding positions within some of the industries’ biggest companies (Texas Instruments and Silicon Labs).

You will also get presentation from:

  • Statoil: Bjørgulf Haukelidsæt Eidesen, Leader Subsea Technology and Systems Statoil, will present their new Cap-X solutions and how this brings the subsea industry closer to a ‘plug and play’ solution.
  • TecnipFMC: Siddi Wouters, Director Digital Services and Innovation Center TechnipFMC, will present how digital services will transform the subsea industry.
  • IMR: Geir Lasse Taranger, Research Director Aquaculture Marine environment and Technology at The Institute of Marine Research (IMR), will give their vision for an integrated monitoring system supporting marine science, future growth in aquaculture and coexistence of ocean industries.
  • Karsten Moholt: Stian Bless CDO of Karsten Moholt will present their vision for the future, condition monitoring system and Industry 4.0 initiative.
  • Octio Group: Bjarte Fagerås, CEO of Octio will present their “Ethernet on the Seabed” and how increased integration and standardisation can provide more cost efficient solutions.
  • CMR: Ove Lampe, Senior Scientist, Christian Michelsen Research (CMR) will present an advanced data analysis and model building techniques conducted for OneSubsea, and how this gives a better understanding of the behavior of subsea pumps to improve operation and perform predictive maintenance.

Open Innovation Challenge

We will give presentations and workshop sessions for:

  • Overall challenges and needs
  • Smarter sensors and observation methodology
  • Data analysis, integration, Big Data

The results from the workshop will be summarised and posted as an open innovation challenge by GCE Subsea, where the best ideas will be supported with pre-project funding.
