We invite you to learn more about the recommended practice for qualification of new technology (DNVGL-RP-A203). The course is prepared to match the need for companies in the GCE Ocean Technology cluster.

Technology qualification is key in order to get in position to supply your solutions to the market. Following best practice and working Lean can save companies significant cost and time when qualifying new technology.

This course will give the participants an overview and background of the qualification work process based on DNV GL’s digital tool REASON and the recommended practice for qualification of new technology (DNVGL-RP-A203).

Technology qualification can be applied for components, equipment and systems involving new technology. This course is given to help guide you through the principles and tools available.

The course describes and discusses each step of the qualification work process and goes into details about the most important topics. Group work is included in order to demonstrate parts of the qualification work process to give the participants hands-on experience. The electronic tool REASON will be used as the platform for the work.

Learning Objectives

  • Help participants understand what technology qualification is, and when it is needed.
  • Give the participants an overview and background for the principles of the technology qualification work process as described in the DNVGL-RP-A203.
  • Familiarise the participants with the requirements for technology qualification and its documentation.

  • Professionals who are involved with development and qualification or selection and acquisition of new technology.
  • Engineers who want to get a good understanding of a systematic process of technology qualification and its documentation.
  • Project managers who are following up technology qualification projects.

The course is developed by DNV GL and all participants receive a course certificate. All material and presentations will be in English. The lecture will be in Norwegian, if only Norwegian speaking are present, other vice lecture will be in English.

About the Lecturer

The course will be given by Dag McGeorge from DNV GL. McGeorge holds a MSc (sivilingeniør) in marine technology from NTNU (NTH) with specialisation within composite materials and constructions. He has more than 25 years of experience from research and technology qualification. McGeorge was the editor of the latest updates of DNV GL's Recommended Practice on technology qualification (DNVGL-RP-A203).

Participation and Costs

The course is free of charge and exclusive for GCE Ocean Technology partners and members. Normal price for the course is 6500 NOK per participant. There is a seat limitation of 20 participants, hence we allow maximum two participants per company.
