Fully booked before we'd really started

– It didn't take long from when we began recruiting before the ScaleupNow programme was completely full, says Owe Hagesæther of GCE Ocean Technology.

And the companies signing on couldn't be more different — this autumn's cohort heading to MIT in Boston runs everything from sustainable knitwear brand Moo Knit to carbon capture company Condensia.

Nine years with MIT

For nine years, GCE Ocean Technology has run ScaleupNow in partnership with the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, teaching their 24-step Disciplined Entrepreneurship method. But the programme has never filled up this fast.

That's good news for the people running it. Alongside Owe Hagesæther, the programme is mentored by serial entrepreneur Bjarte Fagerås, together with Camilla Moster and Kristin Aamodt from PwC.

In November, they're taking eight exciting companies with them to MIT in Boston.

The companies come from completely different industries from MTT's electrical switchboards and automation for the maritime and energy sector, to MooKnit's sustainable Norwegian knitwear:

With this cohort, more than 60 companies have now taken part in the programme — financially supported and made possible through Sparebanken Norge's foundation, Agenda Vestlandet.

ScaleupNow has also grown a younger sibling: a startup program, ScaleupNext, built on the same 24-step method, running every spring.
