Owe Hagesæther, CEO of GCE Ocean Technology presenting the latest news from our cluster at the BlueTech Week in San Diego, November 2019.

GCE Ocean Technology takes over the lead and coordinator role in the BlueTech Cluster Alliance from 1 January 2020 to advocate international growth for our partners and members.

GCE Ocean Technology has been part of the BlueTech Cluster Alliance (BTCA) for 18 months now and consider it to be the most competent and capable ocean industry collaboration in the world.

Networks Across Borders

International collaboration is an important next step in cluster development and we aim to strengthen the collaboration among the world’s leading ocean technology nations and organisations. Being part of BTCA facilitates this and creates networks across borders for our members, paving the way for new exporting markets and business opportunities.

Learn more about BTCA.

BTCA will advance both cluster-to-cluster and B2B collaboration across borders through events and initiatives that promote the “blue” economy and share common goals of fostering economic development, innovation and scientific discovery in the ocean domain.

Alliance Members

There are nine members from eight countries represented in BTCA:

  • Forum Oceano (Portugal)
  • Marine Institute (Ireland)
  • Oceans Advance (Canada)
  • PLOCAN (Spain)
  • Pole Mer Mediterranee (France)
  • GCE Ocean Technology (Norway)
  • Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique (France)
  • The Maritime Alliance (U.S.)
  • UK Blue Growth Network (UK)

BTCA will be expanding memberships to include more countries and ocean technology clusters that promote international cross-cluster collaboration. This is a growing meta structure which is an important next step developing the clusters and strengthening international business development and trade.

It is a great honour to take over the lead and coordinator role for the BlueTech Cluster Alliance and we would like to thank Mr. Michael Jones, President of The BlueTech Maritime Alliance in San Diego for his great efforts in leading the alliance steadily, since its beginning.
