GCE Ocean Technology has been an important contributor to the development of "cluster city" Bergen and to the environment at Marineholmen, says Innovation Norway.

– There has been a great development of the environment for innovation and entrepreneurship at Marineholmen, and we can proudly say that this is one of the 2-3 best and most dynamic innovation environments in Norway, said Nina Broch Mathisen and Torunn Aass Taraldrud, both Directors from Innovation Norway, during their visit to GCE Ocean Technology at Marineholmen.

This collaborative culture at Marineholmen has also contributed to the fact that we can call Bergen for Norway's cluster city number 1, they continued.

Set the Standards

Innovation Norway stated that GCE Ocean Technology has been an important contributor to the development of the cluster city Bergen and to the environment at Marineholmen.

– You have shown how to develop a world-class cluster and have been an inspiration for other clusters. We observe that the cluster have worked hard to link entrepreneurs with established players and set the standards. Moreover, GCE Ocean Technology has been an important contributor to develop our cluster city and Marineholmen, and you continue to show the way through your ambitious ScaleUp Programme that you run in partnership with MIT Boston, Innovation Norway continue.

Business Development Programmes

During the full day meeting at Marineholmen, Innovation Norway expressed that they value our clusters work with growth programmes, and the fact that the programmes are not restricted to cluster participants only, but they also emphasized that it is important that such programmes are rooted in a cluster need and aligned with the strategy.

GCE Ocean Technology have collaborated with Innovation Norway on several projects among others a joint restructuring project called SNU were we sit together in the project- and steering group and support the project jointly on important activities such as mobilisation, event and content.

When asked how Innovation Norway considers GCE Ocean Technologies role and programme offer, Taralrud and Broch Mathisen replies: – GCE Ocean Technology cluster is an important partner for us, and is an offensive and ambitious player who works hard to promote necessary transition and growth of their partners and members.
